The United States has many visa categories, each with its own requirements.

• Visitor visas (B-1/B-2) for business trips and tourism
• Student visas (F-1) for study at approved US schools
• Work visas, such as the H-1B for specialty occupations, which require a US employer
• EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program, a route to a green card through a qualifying investment that creates US jobs
• E-2 Treaty Investor visa, available only to nationals of countries that have a qualifying treaty with the United States
