Portugal Golden Visa and Residence Options

Portugal offers several residence routes for non-EU nationals, including investment and income-based visas.

Golden Visa (Residence by Investment)

Real estate purchases no longer qualify for Portugal’s Golden Visa. The remaining routes include investment in qualifying Portuguese funds, research, cultural or heritage contributions, and company creation with job creation. Holders must meet a minimum stay requirement and can later apply for permanent residence or citizenship, subject to the rules in force.

Other visas

• D7 visa for people with regular passive income, such as pensions or rental income
• Digital nomad visa for remote workers with foreign income
• Work visas for people with a job offer in Portugal
